I wrote this poem in my husband’s bus/van hybrid on a cold, grey Saturday afternoon, whilst listening to the afternoon football games. There was hockey going on outside too. It was, more or less, a festival of people scoring goals.
That’s where it began: one word, one syllable. Build it from there: 1+2+3+4+5+6, except the order was switched and then BOOM BACK OF THE NET.
All in all, I am very pleased.
Repetition
Any given second,
existence alters;
without warning
redefine
soul’s path:
go.
Sudden light bulb moment,
least expected; bright
transformation
altered view
heart holds:
goal.
Months, devoted hard work
backbone consistent;
repetition
improvement
practice:
goals.
Your first, tentative steps
create legacy;
strong foundations
hit targets
strengthen:
goal.
Release pent-up demons,
metamorphosis;
emerge stronger
galvanised
complete:
GO.
