I’m quite pleased with this, on two levels: it starts as non-rhyme and then has it’s own moment of rebellion. I *think* this is tribachal verse (if I’ve understood the metrical feet thing, if I’ve not some explanation would be fabulous) but even if I have failed to grasp the concept, three syllables a line is an economy of vocabulary that is much needed alongside my current tranche of editing projects.
Sometimes, you don’t want fussy and deep, you just need a start, end and some good stuff in the middle.
Rebel
Don’t care how
old mind is:
rebel, lest
time’s pursuit
snatches last
chance to shine.
Grasp nettle,
exceed fear:
belief moulds
new path, here
begins fresh
cultured start.
Simple change
every day:
progression,
direction;
allow shift,
believe self.
Evolving
path transformed:
deviate
from your norm;
expression
freedom, born.
In due course
redefine:
existence, shift
back in line;
edify…
now’s the time.
