A fruit from this tree,
persea americana;
mass phenomena.

Ancient nutrition
long before that toasted snack;
climacteric fruit.

Healthy yet fatty,
contradictory; texture
smooth taste sensation.

Millennial angst,
green-fleshed monster: symbolic
arbiter of wealth.

Avocado, shade
bathrooms, guacamole; build
California rolls.
