Nice.

The Biography Bit

There should probably be some background at this point.

After winning a Poetry Society members’ contest (and reading that piece at the Poetry Café in Covent Garden) in 2018 I wrote 24 poems about Southend on Sea for the Places of Poetry online initiative, one of which was included in the official anthology published for National Poetry Day in October 2020 by Bloomsbury.

Work has been published by Flights / Quarterly ejournal, Green Ink Poetry, Fevers of the Mind, Acropolis Journal, Selcouth Station, Black Bough Poetry, Paragraph Planet, Forest Arts, Flapjack Press, Visual Verse and Dreich. In October 2021 I was nominated for the Best of the Net Award. In October 2022 I was shortlisted for inclusion as part of the South Bank Centre New Poets Collective.

There have also been performances at Poetry Festivals in Gloucestershire, Nottingham and Kendal, at ‘Flights in the Room’ in Brighton and on a regular basis during the monthly Open Mic events at Wordsworth Grasmere.

A lot of memories from my early childhood came from the first colour TV films shown on BBC2 to pad out programming. This is a particular favourite:
